The Benefits of Using a Keyword Analysis Tool

If you’re looking to increase the search engine rankings of your hubs, articles, blogs and websites, then you have probably already heard about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). In a previous hub “The Importance of Learning SEO”, I shared how search engine optimization is helping me to grow as a writer on HubPages and how you too can benefit from learning some of the basic SEO techniques.

Using Search Engine Optimization Tools

Of all the search engine optimization tools and resources available to us, a keyword analysis tool (otherwise known as a keyword checker) is probably the most valuable. Realizing how to properly research and use keywords is, in my opinion, one of the most fundamentally important aspects of learning SEO. I believe that by choosing words and phrases carefully using a keyword checker, and then writing informative content around those keywords, we have a better chance of climbing up the search engine rankings. This will ultimately put ourselves in a better position to generate more online income.

How Does a Keyword Checker Help?

It is essential to use a really good keyword checker that will quickly and accurately extract the “best” keywords to work with for your topic or niche.

What are the “best” keywords? Well, generally speaking, the best keywords are those that are relevant to the topic or niche that you happen to be writing about. They are the words or phrases that people type into search engines when they are looking for information, or answers to questions. But that’s not enough if you want to start making money online (as I quickly found out). To really get people to read your hub or visit your website then it’s vital to choose keywords that are not only relevant, but are also profitable, attract a lot of traffic, and have low volumes of competition.

Realize that the “best” keywords are not necessarily the ones that you would pick out for yourself. “Guessing” keywords is very hit-and-miss. For example, if you are writing about a very unusual topic such as “Green Zebras” then the chances are that “Green Zebras” could be the best keyword for your niche. You might be one of only a handful of other writers that are covering the subject in which case your chances of getting a high search engine ranking could be very good. However, when writing about a broad and popular topic such as “keyword research”, (as I am in this hub) it really pays to delve a little deeper and find phrases that better your chances of success. That’s where a good keyword analysis tool comes in.

Keyword Analysis Tool FREE Trial

From my perspective, the first thing I would recommend is to read up on Market Samurai, which is the leading keyword analysis tool. You can find out all about it and download a 12 day trial completely free by clicking HERE.

This is exactly what I did 2 months ago and it has been so invaluable to me that I went ahead and purchased the full version at the end of the 12 day trial. Already, the online income I have generated has paid for the software twice over, and so it is proving to be a great investment for me. I know that anyone interested in learning about keyword research would be fascinated by the results that Market Samurai bring.

Be sure to watch the four free tutorial videos that come with Market Samurai’s free trial before starting to analyze keywords. These four videos are very, very easy to follow (beginner’s level), and outline the importance of finding keywords that are relevant, profitable, bring high traffic, and have low competition. The videos also show you how to extract the “golden nugget” keywords for your niche or subject.

I actually found the first video tutorial "Golden Rule #1: How to Find Relevant Keywords" on YouTube and so you can watch it right now by clicking below. Watching this video will give you a great insight on just how easy and useful it is to determine the most relevant keywords for your niche.

In the case of the topic I am writing about today, Market Samurai tells me that the phrase “keyword research” is in fact used in over 11 million websites on the world wide web. That makes my hub a very tiny fish in a very large pond! To help me stand out from the crowd, the software extracts some alternative keywords that are evaluated based on the “golden rules criteria” (this is fully explained in the free tutorial videos). It turns out that I have a much better chance of success if I focus my hub on the following three keywords:-

  • Keyword Analysis Tool
  • Keyword Checker
  • Search Engine Optimization Tools

By including these three keywords in my content, tags, and title, I have a much better chance of driving traffic to this hub than I would have done if I had focused purely on the phrase “keyword research”.

So my advice is do take bit of time to understand the importance of using search engine optimization tools. Start by analyzing the most relevant and profitable keywords for your own hubs, articles, blogs and websites. You will be amazed at what you find out!

Now don’t worry if this all sounds complicated. Remember that when I first started writing on HubPages eight months ago I didn’t even know what SEO stood for. I never imagined I would be now writing and sharing a hub about getting the most from a keyword analysis tool or keyword checker. I do not consider myself an expert by any means and there are certainly many experts out there who will give you very sound advice. However, when something works for me, then I am happy to pass on what I learn for the benefit of others.

I am going to check out this keyword analysis tool that you have been using. It looks interesting and I'm glad it works for you. For writers that are interested in an online income, I think it is important to do a keyword analysis as you describe before even beginning the writing process. I am bookmarking this and voting up and useful. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I think I'll check it out, too. Are you saying that it's much better than Google's free keyword tool? I still haven't understood how to use it exactly and what level of competition to stay in. You're right in that something that is widely searched may leave you as a drop in the ocean. I appreciate this hub--voting it up, useful, awesome. Will definitely bookmark and reference as needed.

Hi ktrapp, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by all the built-in features of Market Samurai, it actually does quite a bit more than just analyze keywords. Very useful indeed. Thanks for your comment, as always I appreciate your thoughts. Have a great day!

Hi Victoria Lynn, the features are much greater than that of Google's keyword tool. Instead of just returning the stats for all the keywords, Market Samurai will actually filter them all down for you based on relevancy, traffic, profitiability and least competition - hence the "golden nugget" keywords. It also helps you find content to write about, domain names etc.etc. It's worth doing the free trial to compare its functionalities to that of Google.

Thanks for your excellent comment!

Hi homesteadbound, I'm still really just scratching the surface of the software - it is extremely powerful and has a lot of potential to do even more than keyword research! So much to learn!

Hi Dex,

Thanks for saying so, I always value your opinion! That's good that you use a keyword analysis tool, I now find that it's worth analyzing my keywords before I even start to write a hub. Have a great day!

Helpful hub, Cloverleaf! I have been using the free Google keyword tool for a while, as well as the free Market Samurai trial. Both work well for me. Isn't it amazing how second-nature SEO terms become after a while? I was totally green when I started out. Now I have to be careful in an ordinary conversation not to sprinkle these terms all over the place!

Wonderful hub. I haven't really done much for keyword analysis. Occasionally I will go into my Google Adwords and do a search there to see what has a good number of searches and what not. Otherwise, the only other excuse I can come up with for not doing more research is just pure laziness. Ahh... I will have to bookmark this and learn learn learn. But it is the work behind the scenes that is often times so necessary but so boring! :)

Thanks for the good sound information. I will have to check into that program!

Thanks for the information about this tool! I've been using the free Google tool. It's too bad that more people commenting on this hub don't at least do that. I'd never heard of Market Samurai, but it does sound like a very powerful tool. Bookmarking!

WOW - I can't believe how many comments I have on this hub. Thank you all so much for contributing. leaving feedback and voting.

Writer20, if you want to target a specific audience with your stories and poems then you could certainly include relevant keyword tags that will help to drive traffic to your hubs. It's probably more relevant for your stories because there have more content in which you can include the keywords.

Market Samurai extracts data from the Google Keyword Tool and then evaluates it to return you just the "golden nugget" keywords. That's one of the things that makes it so much more powerful than just using the Google Keyword Tool on its own.

Cloverleaf, thanks for this video and hub. I have thought about getting Market Samurai but don't want to spend money on this until I start making some! That video is very interesting and I am going to check out the free videos from them on Youtube, at least. It looks like an excellent product and I can definitely see the benefit!
