The Bridal Jewelry Worn by Kim Kardashian on Her Wedding Day

I thought that Kim Kardashian looked superbly elegant and stunning on her wedding day, but then being lavished in millions of dollars worth of blinding diamond jewelry may have had something to do with it.

Kim Kardashian, famous for her modeling career and reality television success, married NBA basketball player Kris Humphries in Montecito on August 20th, 2011 in what can only be described as a fairy tale, out-of-this-world ceremony.

On her wedding day, Kim wore over $10 million worth of custom-made diamond jewelry crafted by Lorraine Schwartz, including diamond drop earrings and a matching diamond headpiece. All heads turned as Kim walked down the aisle flashing her fabulously expensive and luxurious bridal jewelry – talk about over the top!

Kim’s headpiece, inspired by Audrey Hepburn, is a whopping 65 carats and is thought to be valued at approximately $2.5 million alone. But that’s nothing! Her matching 28 carat diamond earrings carry a pretty hefty price tag of double that of the headpiece - $5 million for just one pair of earrings. If that’s not enough to break the bank, Kim wore a $2 million emerald-cut engagement ring, and by the end of the ceremony was weighed down even more by a 20.5 carat platinum wedding ring valued at over $2 million. Thinking about these prices, I would say that Kim’s outrageously stunning 15 carat emerald-cut diamond eternity band was a bargain at ”only” $60,000.

I think it’s every woman’s dream to be able to indulge in a little luxury for her Wedding Day. But personally speaking, I don’t happen to have several million dollars tucked away in a closet somewhere for a little lavish spending on expensive diamond, emerald and platinum jewelry, and I dare say that I am not alone there.

But oh, to dream.

I don't want you to feel bad though, because not even Kim Kardashian paid $5 million for her bridal earrings; in fact they were her "something borrowed". What is good news is that these earrings and other bridal jewelry is very easy to replicate by jewelry manufacturers, and are available for you and I to buy at just a fraction of the cost.

I'm no jewelry expert by any means but I do think that cubic zirconia stones make a stunning and inexpensive alternative to diamonds, and are virtually identical to the untrained eye. Instead of platinum, white gold plated jewelry cuts the cost down to a mere fraction of the price while achieving a similar look to platinum. So it's not surprising that CZ jewelry is becoming extremely popular these days, particularly celebrity style jewelry such as that worn by Kim Kardashian.

You might be surprised to learn that the CZ Diamond Teardrop Earrings featured in this photograph actually cost less than $20 to buy! Not only can you significantly cut the cost of bridal jewelry and still look completely fabulous, but unlike Kim Kardashian you actually get to keep these earrings!

I hardly wear any jewelry. I wear one pair of earrings all of the time. The ones that they used to pierce my ears. Every time I changed them I got an infection in my ears, so I quit trying. I wear my wedding "tear drop" shaped diamond engagement ring and my wedding ring. If I wear a necklace, it's when I go to church, which isn't too often. (sorry, Lord!) I just never really cared about jewelry. I guess you could say that I'm a "no frills" kind of girl...bare footin' and bra less. Comfort is what I love...

Hi there Susie, I had the same problem when I got my own ears pierced (many years ago now!). Every time I changed my earrings my ears would get infected, and then I learned that I was allergic to nickel. So I only wear hypoallergenic jewelry now and it seems to be fine. It's very important to feel comfortable in whatever we wear - jewelry as well as clothes!

Take care,

Cloverleaf.

Jewelry does do a great job of finishing off an outfit, or of reflecting the mood for a special occasion. Thanks for your comment!

I wasn't that crazy about the diamond headpiece that she wore but I loved the earrings!

Every woman can use a few more diamonds in her life. :)

Hello TinaLynn, and welcome new reader!

Kim's earring really were quite something, weren't they? I just loved the glitz and glamour of them. I hope you have someone special in your life who can treat you to bit of something sparkly :-)

Why wait for "someone special" to treat you to something sparkly, when you can buy it yourself and be ready to knock everyone out all the time! jewelaholic here, girls, and I wear my diamonds to bed. or my pearls.
