Quick Tips for a Brighter Smile of Confidence

By

Want to make an amazing first impression? According to a recent survey, 40% of people asked agree that a person’s smile is the very first physical attribute that they notice when meeting someone for the first time. Among other things, a beaming, confident smile can say that you are happy, trustworthy, sincere, successful…and all of these first impressions can be formed in 30 seconds or less!

A job interview, or a first date, are two occasions where a beautiful smile would go a long way to locking in a positive and lasting first impression.

Here are some extra quick-fix confidence boosters that you can do before you leave the house to help you to help you achieve a brilliant smile.

1. Brush Your Teeth with Baking Soda

Brushing with baking soda helps to whiten teeth and make them feel “squeaky clean”. Wet your toothbrush and then dip it into some baking soda. Thoroughly brush your teeth as you would normally do with toothpaste and rinse your mouth clean with water. Repeat again, dipping the toothbrush into more baking soda, then brushing and rinsing.

2. Spend 2 Minutes Flossing Properly

Flossing regularly is so important to remove plaque and food particles from between your teeth. A big smile doesn’t look so great if you have left a big piece of spinach lodged in between your front two teeth! Using floss picks can make flossing a lot easier and enjoyable because they are extremely easy to use; you can correctly floss in between all of your teeth in less than 2 minutes. Glide Floss Picks are an excellent product to try because they are angled so that you can reach the back teeth without any difficulty.

3. Freshen Breath

It is so important to have fresh breath when meeting someone for the first time. Bad breath can sometimes be caused by bacteria growing in the mouth and on the gums. So for an added boost of confidence, rinse and gargle with a good quality mouthwash that helps to fight the germs that cause bad breath. Rembrandt Deeply White Whitening Mouthwash with Fluoride Fresh Mint contains a special rapid-release liquid hydrogen peroxide that makes teeth whiter as well as getting to work on fighting bad bacteria. It will leave your mouth feeling cleaner than you’ve ever known before, plus you will enjoy the long lasting minty flavor from this mouthwash.

4. Soften Lips with Olive Oil

It is well known that olive oil is great for the skin; it contains a lot of vitamin E, which promotes healthy skin cells. Applying olive oil to the skin also helps it to retain moisture, leaving it looking soft and supple. First, mix a little olive oil with granulated sugar to make a grainy paste and gently rub it onto your lips to remove the dead skin cells. Rinse away with cool water so that no signs of sugar remain, and then rub a little olive oil into your lips to give a nice, glistening sheen.

5. Apply a Lip Gloss

For the girls, lip gloss is really easy to apply and will give your lips that extra “plump” look while looking very natural at the same time. Lip gloss comes in a wide variety of soft colors that give an instant sun-kissed and healthy look. Simply sweep a little of gloss over your lips and you're done.

SMILE!

By following these few easy tips you will have found a new routine that gives your whole mouth a makeover that gives a professional feeling of whiteness, brightness and minty freshness. With your new brilliant smile you will have found new confidence to make a great impression and to take on the world!

Baking soda is better for you than all these ridiculous chemicals that are in toothpastes.

Great article.

Thanks for your comments writer20 and galleryofgrace. Baking soda is certainly the healthier choice for daily brightening but stubbon stains sometimes need a little more encouragement :-)

Good article, Cloverleaf. Baking soda worked very well for me but it does take a lot longer than the chemical treatments. I like that tip about olive oil, too!

Thanks Cloverleaf for some great tips, I have never tried baking soda, so I will give it a go, many thanks for sharing.

Movie Master, I hear you're having trouble getting into your tubes of toothpaste lately so it might be a good alternative for you :-)

I keep doing all of these things... I also use salt sometimes to brush teeth..I have read that the Africans have no teeth decay because they use coal powder to brush teeth.. (never tried that though). I love warm olive oil for the lips.. especially in winter..great tips here Cloverleaf.

When we were kids we used baking soda if we ran out of toothpaste. I love using these ready products out of the home cabinet. Thanks for the tips.

Shimmering Dawn - coal powder, really? I wonder if that works! Cheers for the comments.

PegCole17, it's good to keep some baking soda around the house, ya never know when it will come in handy. Believe it or not it also helps to get rid of skunk smell (...a bad experience, maybe I'll write a hub about it one day...)
